Substitutes in our Southwest metro area will be responsible for working at schools in the Chaska, Chanhassen, Eden Prairie, Shorewood, Edina, Bloomington, Shakopee, or Prior Lake areas.
Work area is flexible and based on where you are located. Subs are asked to travel within a 15 mile radius of their home.

Hi! My name is Amanda Bergseng and I am the director at New Horizon Academy – Meridian South. I am so excited for this new adventure at our brand-new school! I wanted to let you know a little bit about myself – I have worked for New Horizon Academy for 13 years but I have been in the early childhood education field for 19 years. I am also currently going to school to get my degree in Early Childhood Education. Outside of New Horizon Academy, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends; I have 6 children that keep me busy. We enjoy going camping, sitting around a campfire, and racing at Meridian Speedway.

I have always loved children and wanted to make a difference in their lives. I have three children of my own and a wonderful husband. We love going on family adventures and making memories together. We spend as much time as possible in the mountains at our family cabin in Prairie, Idaho. We love snowmobiling, boating, hunting, fishing, camping, riding horses, hiking, riding dirt bikes, ATV’s, side by sides, and really anything that we can have fun doing together.

What do you like about early childhood?
I love that we get to be at the ground level of education, helping children discover who they are. I’m passionate about nurturing a love for learning in each child. We’re so fortunate to be part of so many families’ lives, forming genuine bonds with the children.
What makes your school unique?
Our school is brand-new! We have built-in water toys on the playgrounds, a beautiful great room for large motor activities, and spacious classrooms that can accommodate large motor play as well. There is a dedicated staff room, along with a conference room. Our kitchen has a door that leads directly to the parking lot, so deliveries don’t need to pass through the school. Starting from the Toddler A class, each room includes cot closets. The school is conveniently located to serve families from Kuna, Nampa, Meridian, Caldwell, and Boise.

We were so excited to have this brand-new childcare open closer to our home! The school is well thought out and designed. The classrooms are large with lots of areas for free play as well as areas for more structured curriculum. I also appreciate that the new playgrounds have separate areas for older and younger kids. They are great for motor learning and play! The Meridian teachers and staff are very friendly and truly are easy to communicate with.
I can’t say enough good things about the South Meridian New Horizon Academy! My daughter was at a different daycare that we had some safety concerns with so I was super apprehensive about a new daycare. However, the South Meridian New Horizon Academy far exceeded my expectations and I know without a doubt that the staff here genuinely care about my daughter.
