New Horizon Academy Des Moines is conveniently located in Des Moines, Iowa off Martin Luther King Jr Parkway and SW 9th Street in downtown Des Moines. We have been serving families in the Des Moines metro area with quality childcare and early education services since 2018. Our school offers early learning programs for infants, toddlers, and preschool and pre-kindergarten children. At our downtown Des Moines childcare, we use a comprehensive curriculum that includes character development, STEAM, literacy, motor skills, and more, all with an emphasis on building confident and excited learners. I was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, and come from a large family with four siblings. My love for early childhood began by being in and around my mother’s in-home childcare for most of my life, so i have many years of informal experience in addition to my six years of formal experience. In my free time I enjoy being creative and doing crafts, playing with my two cats, and spending time with my family.

What do you like about early childhood?
I love being a young child’s safe space outside of their parents and building close relationships with children and families. I enjoy watching children learn new skills, and I’m excited to be a part of providing the best early childhood education!

Our school is NAEYC accredited, has long-term staff, and strives to maintain well-equipped and beautiful classrooms. Our location is also known for its rooftop playground for preschool and pre-K children.

New Horizon Academy in downtown Des Moines has such a great learning and development environment for kids. They are always doing fun, interesting, and engaging activities. The teachers and staff are fantastic – they’re very patient, caring, and communicative.
The New Horizon Academy downtown Des Moines location is an amazing place to take your little one. They have been very understanding and patient with me on any questions or concerns I have regarding my little one. The teachers are always doing fun learning activities with the kids as well. I highly recommend this daycare center!
I have had a WONDERFUL experience here. My 14 month old goes to daycare here full time. The teachers in my child’s class are SO kind, energetic, positive, and competent. They are truly impressive. I feel like my child is being taken care of by people who are genuinely passionate about their work. The facility is also super bright and pretty with above average playgrounds. I love that they do art and sensory activities regularly with my child and that staff posts photos regularly on the app showing what kids are up to. If you are a working parent, this place is a total gift.
Our 18-month-old grandson has been here for about a month. It is his first experience with daycare, and he loves going—he looks forward to seeing his teachers and friends each morning. The center is warm and inviting, clean, and appropriate for the ages of the children cared for. The staff are friendly, kind, and patient, and most have been at the center for an extended period of time. We love the curriculum and educational elements for all ages, as well as the efforts to engage with families and keep parents connected throughout the day.
