New Horizon Academy Recognizes Top Teachers at Annual Banquet
Each year, New Horizon Academy honors its top teachers and educators by presenting awards in three categories: Teachers of Distinction, Kitchen Managers of Distinction, and Educators of Excellence.
Teachers of Distinction are educators who consistently exceed expectations, demonstrating profound leadership skills and unwavering commitment to early childhood education. These teachers go above and beyond to ensure children receive the highest quality of education and care.
Teacher of Distinction qualifications include:
- Has 2+ years of service at New Horizon Academy
- Is a full-time lead teacher
- Is employed at a location that has achieved or is actively seeking NAEYC accreditation
- Meets or exceeds the in-service requirements for the current licensing year
- Assumes additional responsibility in the school, such as acting as a new employee mentor or school safety monitor
Kitchen Managers of Distinction stand out as exceptional cooks who consistently go above and beyond to ensure nutritious and well-balanced meals for the children in our care. These individuals consistently adhere to the monthly menu, manage food allergies with precision, minimize the use of disposable dishware, and maintain a positive attitude at all times.
Kitchen Manager of Distinction qualifications include:
- Has 2+ years of service at New Horizon Academy
- Has a current Safe Serve Certification
- Goes above and beyond normal job expectations
- Is nominated by their school director and district manager
Educators of Excellence have held the esteemed Teacher of Distinction title multiple times and have been dedicated to New Horizon Academy for several years. These educators demonstrate unwavering dedication to the early childhood education field, consistently going above and beyond to deliver outstanding care and education to children.
Educator of Excellence qualifications include:
- Has 5+ years of continuous service as a lead teacher at New Horizon Academy
- Has received the Teacher of Distinction award in 2 previous years
- Has a CDA, AA, BA, or BS degree in early childhood education
- Participates in activities that demonstrate commitment to the early education industry, such as advocacy efforts, attending area conferences, or volunteering in the community
- Demonstrates all the same criteria as Teachers of Distinction
