In Twin Cities Business: Childcare’s Role in Returning to the Office

Chad Dunkley, CEO of New Horizon Academy, was recently featured in a Twin Cities Business guest commentary titled “Childcare Is Key to Bringing Workers Back to the Office.”

In the op-ed, Dunkley says that as Minnesota employers call staff back to in-person work, childcare has become a critical workforce issue. He explains that rising childcare costs are driven by the realities of providing high-quality care, such as increased teacher wages and Minnesota’s low teacher-to-child ratios, which are essential for safety and quality.

Dunkley urges business leaders to step up by using expanded federal tax credits, supporting worksite childcare, and partnering with local providers for more flexible and reliable options. He notes other states are moving faster on childcare, emphasizing that when young families succeed, businesses do too.
