PLYMOUTH, Minn. – New Horizon Academy, family-owned and operated child care provider, has opened its first Iowa school located at 450 SW 9th Street in Des Moines, with two more schools to come in the area. The new school in downtown Des Moines joins more than 60 locations in and around the Twin Cities of Minnesota, as well as four locations in Idaho, and two locations soon to come in Colorado.
New Horizon Academy, who has been serving families since 1971, provides highly trained teachers, a proven curriculum, and safe and secure facilities, all aimed at supporting children’s self-esteem and preparing them for kindergarten and beyond. Teachers will care for and educate more than 160 children ages 6 weeks through 5 years between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The new school features safe, well-equipped, and age-appropriate classrooms that are thoughtfully designed to enhance learning through play. The school will also feature safe and unique outdoor play spaces for the children to enjoy.

I first started as an infant teacher at New Horizon Academy and moved up through the age groups, became an assistant director, and am now a director. I have two wonderful girls who are active in sports and love being outdoors! In our free time we love going to the cabin and going to hockey games! I am an Enneagram 3, active hockey mom of two girls, and an advocate for small humans!

My daughter has been here for a year and we love it! All of the teachers are so wonderful. It has been a crazy Minnesota winter so far, and I’ve noticed our daycare has stayed open when other daycares have closed, which as a working parent is so incredibly helpful. I would recommend this daycare for your little ones!
My son has been at this daycare for a year and I couldn’t be happier. He learns so much and is capable of much more than I ever expected at this age like knowing letters, using scissors, and having table manners. In addition to the excellent education and warm teachers and administrators, you cannot beat the convenience of New Horizon Academy with great hours, all food provided, and more.
I absolutely love the New Horizon Academy St. Louis Park location. We get updates throughout the day and pictures of our kiddos playing with friends and learning new things. The staff are amazing and so compassionate and caring with all children. I love the fact that the teachers have been there for a long time – there’s very little turnover so the kids really get to know the teachers. My granddaughter has grown and learned so much from being here. I would 110% recommend this place if you’re looking for a quality daycare.
