The Excelsior, MN New Horizon Academy is conveniently located near the border of Shorewood and Excelsior, right off Highway 7. Our Excelsior daycare opened in 1996, is accredited by the National Association for Young Children, and holds a four-star rating from Minnesota Parent Aware. New Horizon Academy Excelsior has two infant daycare rooms, two toddler daycare rooms, and two preschool and pre-kindergarten rooms. All of our childcare classrooms utilize an age-appropriate curriculum, which incorporates reading, STEAM, social-emotional learning, and more, preparing children for kindergarten and beyond! What do you like about early childhood?
I love being a part of young children’s growth journey. When they make connections, master new skills, and come up with new ideas, it makes this profession deeply fulfilling. The daily hugs and hilarious conversations are the best part!
What makes your school unique?
We are a smaller school with 6 classrooms, which has created a strong school family between all the teachers and children/families.

Hi! My name is Bailey White, and I am the Assistant Director here at New Horizon Academy Shorewood. I started at New Horizon Academy in the Spring of 2023, but I have been working in early childhood education for over 9 years! I currently live in Hutchinson with my boyfriend, Kris, and our puppy, Luna. In my free time I love to spend time with my 7 nieces and nephew. In the summertime we are always exploring new parks in the area!

Since transferring from a small, in-home daycare, we have been more than pleased with how much our kids have grown and learned at the Shorewood New Horizon Academy! Our daughter, who is in preschool, is more than ready to start kindergarten in the fall and our 2-year-old son has become much more independent. The teachers are amazing and our kids’ favorite days are now the ones where they get to go to school!
My twin infants go to this daycare, and I love it! The school is nice and clean, and the staff are wonderful. I am very happy knowing my boys are well cared for with lots of fun activities and excellent communication. I highly recommend the Shorewood New Horizon Academy!
We are absolutely delighted with New Horizon Academy Shorewood! The teachers are incredibly caring and friendly, creating a nurturing learning environment. The classrooms and curriculum are exceptional, offering a variety of engaging activities and daily updates through pictures. We are also thoroughly impressed with the meals provided. They are not only healthy but also well-balanced, ensuring that our children receive the necessary nutrition.
Our son is in the infant room and we cannot say enough good things about the Shorewood center. The infant teachers are wonderful and have great communication. The mobile app is always updated with activities that our son is doing throughout the day and with many pictures. Seeing how happy our son is to see his teachers every day reassures us we made the right decision enrolling our son in this school.
