Our Excelsior daycare opened in 1996, is accredited by the National Association for Young Children, and holds a four-star rating from Minnesota Parent Aware. New Horizon Academy Excelsior has two infant daycare rooms, two toddler daycare rooms, and two preschool and pre-kindergarten rooms. All of our childcare classrooms utilize an age-appropriate curriculum, which incorporates reading, STEAM, social-emotional learning, and more, preparing children for kindergarten and beyond! I love being a part of young children’s growth journey. When they make connections, master new skills, and come up with new ideas, it makes this profession deeply fulfilling. The daily hugs and hilarious conversations are the best part!
What makes your school unique?
We are a smaller school with 6 classrooms, which has created a strong school family between all the teachers and children/families.

Since transferring from a small, in-home daycare, we have been more than pleased with how much our kids have grown and learned at the Shorewood New Horizon Academy! Our daughter, who is in preschool, is more than ready to start kindergarten in the fall and our 2-year-old son has become much more independent. The teachers are amazing and our kids’ favorite days are now the ones where they get to go to school!

Our son is in the infant room and we cannot say enough good things about the Shorewood center. The infant teachers are wonderful and have great communication. The mobile app is always updated with activities that our son is doing throughout the day and with many pictures.
