Five Ways to Spend More Time Outside as a Family
Research shows that spending time outdoors benefits people of all ages. In general, people who spend time outside on a regular basis lead healthier and happier lives. Families are busy – we totally get that! But we can assure you that getting outdoors with your children is well worth the effort. Here are five tips to help you and your family enjoy the great outdoors more often:
Take your meals outside
No matter how busy your family is, everyone has got to eat! When the weather is nice, try taking those meals outdoors. Enjoy a quick meal in your own backward or pack up a picnic to eat in the park.
Leave the car at home
If you’re traveling somewhere close to home, try walking or biking instead of driving. Not only does it give you the chance to enjoy the outdoors, it also gets you active as well!
Go on a scavenger hunt
A scavenger hunt is a great way to get your family outside and exploring new places. Make a list of landmarks or objects and work together as a family to find all of the items.
Plant a garden
Planting a garden is a great way to get your child excited about going outside. Having them tend to the garden is a great way to teach them about responsibility and they will feel a sense of accomplishment when they see it begin to grow!
Camp in your backyard
You don’t have to travel far to enjoy the benefits of the outdoors. Have a staycation and enjoy a night under the stars in your own backyard!
